There are two great books:
"100+ Ideas for Drama" and "Another 100+ Ideas for Drama"
by Anna Scher and Charles Verrall
Published by Heinemann Educational
They are mainly orientated towards people teaching Drama to children butlots of the ideas can be used with adults if pitched appropriately. As far as games specific to role play are concerned I think the main thing is to get people warmed up by getting them to switch quickly between different character elements, emotional states and actions; it's all quick throwaway stuff so they don't have to be anxious about it. Sense enhancement helps too and I like doing outlandish things like being creatures under the sea etc.
It's really analagous to a physical warm-up: they're too busy to worry about how they look to others and the aim is to get them in a fluid state but focused and feeling relaxed and playful. I think this is particularly important if the ultimate content is going to be serious stuff. If people are going to unburden themselves or visit sensitive areas then they need to be very happy and comfortable with the process itself. Hope this helps."
