Spirit and Action: Workshop and Retreat | Mi’kmaqi / Nova Scotia, Canada

Today we are faced with two great crises: climate change and the concentration of political and economic power in a few hands reinforced by repression and violence. These crises are intersecting. Those of us who care deeply about social justice work and building a healthy relationship with the earth, are all too often left overwhelmed by the magnitude of the transformation necessary and resistance from the powers that be. To sustain our activism, we need a vision of the world we want to create. Our activism can move beyond resistance to radical and joyful resurgence. Our resilience and our strength in this journey will spring from connection with one another and to the earth.

In this workshop, facilitated by Starhawk, we will explore how trauma can infect our groups and relationships, and how we might heal it to create a truly welcoming activist culture. Further, we will explore ways to deepen our own spiritual connections with the earth; ways in which to receive hope and sustenance, and to celebrate in community.

Join us for a weekend of sharing in learning, celebration, meals and connection to the lands, tides and rivers of Maple Grove, Mi’kma’ki.
