Weaving Future Visions| Talk, Discussion, Readings and Spiral Dance | Vancouver, B.C.

April 28, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$20 – $40

Stories shape our imagination and our ideas of the possible. How can we use the power of story, our own story, to help us envision a positive future, and inspire people to want to work towards it?

Reading from her newest book, City of Refuge, Starhawk takes us on a journey, with themes and visions from this, her newest book

We live at a crucial moment in history. The dire realities of climate change and social and environmental crises challenge us to remake our society and to do it quickly. If we fail, we’ll suffer destruction on a global scale. But this threat is also a great opportunity to create a new world of true abundance, rooted in community and nature’s balance. To make a change, we must first envision it.

Starhawk draws on her visionary novels, The Fifth Sacred Thing and City of Refuge to inspire us to imagine that better world, and on her decades of activism in peace, justice and environmental movements to offer strategies for creating it.

Audience discussion follows, ending the evening with a beautiful participatory Spiral Dance, a signature activity for Starhawk and the Reclaiming community.
