Earth as Teacher, Earth as Healer | On the Fringe Workshop | Glastonbury, UK

July 24, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
£50

Starhawk will be presenting a very special workshop at On the Fringe, a fabulous feast of fringe workshops and pilgrimages to expand and enrich your experience of the Glastonbury Goddess Conference, or to enjoy as inspiring events in their own rite.

Earth as Teacher, Earth as Healer

The Earth herself is our greatest teacher and healer, whether we want to heal and transform our personal hurts, or heal the huge wounds our society inflicts on the Earth and other human beings. The ancient Goddess traditions had no sacred texts or dogmas: instead, their mystics learned to read the book of nature. Understanding how the Earth’s cycles work, how change occurs in nature and how Mother Earth designs co-evolving, interdependent systems can help us be better designers of the changes we want to see in our own lives and the world.

No matter what the outcome of current political debates, the work of healing will continue for our lifetimes, and our connection to Earth is our deepest source of hope, renewal, and strength. This workshop, drawing on Starhawk’s book ‘Earth Path’, weaves together ritual, guided journeys, games and stories to help us connect more deeply with the great transformative powers of nature, and to bring those creative energies fully alive in our lives, homes and communities so that we can also bring healing, justice, and balance into the world.

    Dear Starhawk
I’ve booked for the Workshop in Glastonbury on 24th July 2016. I booked last year and got a nasty bought of shingles a few weeks beforehand and was not able to come so feel really pleased that I will be able to make it this time.

You have always been a mentor for me since the 1970’s and we have meet a number of times eg at british witch camp and Glasron bury. I remember when I first met you at the Stonehenge walk in 1980’s it surprised me that you are just another human being not a new age star but yourself. I once said to you we are contemporaries as our journey ahs been through similar time and I felt very comfortable and I too became a permaculturist.

However because last few times we have meet it’s been for very short periods I found my self tongue tied and it’s quite frustrating (with self) I know what it is like to be a celebrity so try not to demand too much of your time but that puts a barrier between us. I’d like to overcome that this time in Glastonbury.

I’m missing the Reclaiming way of doing Magic, not sure why but Relaiming in UK seems to have died out and because I don’t fly and I’m a grower so getting time away has been difficult I wouldn’t come to America or travel to Europe has not worked.

So feel I’d like to talk to you about wider issues and the American Reclaiming Movement and how to make links with others practicing.I am in contact with Anne Marie but she does not practice political magic and focuses on Fairy which I’m not comfortable with. Though I work well with her craft based approach.

I realise you will be busy in the uk but if it’s possible to make time to talk in Glastonbury it would be good.

I read the city of refuge over my Brithday week in june and it reminded me of many things.
I was 65 this year and so feel that I’m stepping into my eldership.I’m very active in local politics and Magic is source of Support though I get little time to practice would like to change that it would be nice to have ritual going on my doorstep every week.

all vague thoughts but hope we can catch up

    • Thanks! I’ll be around Glastonbury for a few days so hopefully we will have time to catch up. And there are some great Reclaiming people active in Britain, some who have a permaculture sensibility, so I’ll try to get you some connections.
